Strong sector response highlights growing demand for digital health education

The Agency’s inaugural Digital Health eLearning Showcase, held on Tuesday 1st September, attracted strong interest from across the health and education sectors, with 694 registrations and 405 attendees joining the online event. The impressive response demonstrated the growing demand for practical, trusted digital health education and highlighted the important role education plays in building workforce capability and supporting the adoption of digital health tools across Australia's healthcare system.
The showcase brought together healthcare organisations, hospitals, primary health networks, universities, professional associations, government agencies, software vendors and training providers to explore the Agency's education offerings and learn how they support healthcare professionals, organisations, students and the future workforce to develop digital health knowledge, skills and confidence.
Throughout the showcase, attendees heard from presenters across the Agency's Education, Cyber Security and Partnerships teams about the role education plays in supporting a digitally capable workforce, the Agency's expanding catalogue of eLearning resources, cyber security awareness and education programs, and opportunities for organisations to host Agency courses within their own Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Education Manager, Dr Kathy Rainbird, highlighted the importance of workforce capability in enabling successful digital health adoption and improving patient outcomes, citing the NHS Topol Review (Preparing the Healthcare Workforce to Deliver the Digital Future, 2019):
"There's little point in investing in the latest technology if there's not a workforce with the right roles and skills to make use of its full potential and ultimately to benefit patients."
Monica Purser, Engagement Lead from the Partnerships, Development and Engagement team, introduced the new resources and outlined how LMS hosting can help organisations integrate trusted digital health education into onboarding, mandatory training, professional development and role-specific learning programs.
"Hosting gives your organisation full control and clear visibility over how our courses are delivered within your broader learning and development programs."

The Guide provides organisations with a central location to explore the Agency's course catalogue, understand hosting requirements and access supporting resources to help determine whether hosting Agency courses is right for their organisation.
